So faith, hope and love abide, these three, but the greatest of these is love.
Man is made from the love of God and is called to love. God is love and in Himself He lives a mystery of personal loving communion. Man and woman created in the Image and likeness of God have inscribed upon them the vocation, capacity and responsibility to love with the love of God. The vocation of each person and the family itself is to radiate and manifest God's love to each member of the family, the Church and the World.
This is love, not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the offering for our sins. For Christians, love is not simply a definition we seek to know and live, but God is love. We have seen the love of God in the face of Christ, in the life death and resurrection of Christ, and we have encountered Christ through the sacraments, scripture, faith and others. Each member of the family is stamped and empowered with the love of God and seeks to manifest this love as fully as possible in the marital relationship, and in relationship with every member of the family.
The family is a manifestation of the life and love of God and is called to radiate/manifest this life and love. The essence of the family and the role/mission of the family are the same-Love.
The family is called to be what she is and to Guard, Reveal and Communicate love-God's Love made manifest in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
